Libbey is hiring an experienced Creative Director to join the Marketing Team in our new office in Columbus, OH. The Creative Director will play an essential role at Libbey and lead a creative force for product design, new product development and channel marketing.  This individual will also serve as the lead of the creative services group and act as strategic liaison between regions, divisions and key functional teams.  This role will have responsibility for leading the development and implementation of design vision for the company along with an updated creative process methodology.

Critical competencies and required experience for this role include product design leadership, new product development, creative services team development and management, campaign development, channel marketing, budgeting, planning and execution of design strategy and brand language.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conceiving and implementing concepts, guidelines and strategies of creative projects, including product ideation, design and development, and overseeing them to completion.
  • Supervise, mentor and help with the development of all assigned creative staff including Product Design, Graphic Services, and Digital Art Director.
  • Process and methodology to assure leadership in design.
  • Leading trend development to support new product ideas and experience innovation.
  • Global trend collaboration and distribution to guide design and marketing.
  • Design and creative services leadership assuring consistent brand language appropriate by channel of trade.
  • Digital marketing support for art direction and content (photography/copy) development
  • Support market research efforts including market, industry and consumer insights.
  • Create content experience into cross-channel campaigns
  • Stay apprised of emerging technology including process, design and printing.
  • Engage in understanding manufacturing to design for manufacturability, while challenging emerging technology opportunities
  • Market-based design leadership and development.
  • Lead trend-right surface design efforts for USC business divisions.
  • Oversee creative briefs to meet business objectives in collaboration with the product category teams.
  • Lead the structural design efficiency and cost reduction efforts across business channels including digital.
  • Identify, launch and manage a global asset management system.
  • Manage departmental budgets, create cost saving initiatives.
  • Support trade show management

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Art, Design or related field.  Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience as a creative director in a relevant industry
  • Housewares Industry experience preferred.
  • Digital and ecommerce experience
  • Strong understanding of multichannel marketing concepts
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the marketing design process
  • Successful track record in market-based design leadership
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to inspire the creative team
  • Experience with a variety of design software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong persuasive and collaboration skills
  • Ability to stay current with technical skills
  • Knowledge of industry standards and current trends
  • Resilience under pressure and against deadlines.
