The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for leading and directing a culture that is obsessed with top notch service while ensuring the efficient and economical utilization of personnel and facilities for receiving, storing and distributing finished goods inventories.  This position will directly lead and manage a team consisting of supervisors, inventory control and support personnel, within a unionized workforce.  The Distribution Center Manager is also responsible for aligning with third-party logistics (3PL) partners during different periods of the year.

Libbey is looking for a results-oriented supply chain leader, who will ensure we are safely meeting customer expectations while meeting and adhering to cost targets, budgets and other company standards. The Distribution Center Manager position is an excellent leadership opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and collaborative individual to make a positive impact to Libbey’s supply chain operations.


  • Direct the operation of the distribution center to meet financial, strategic and performance goals, while servicing customer requirements and expectations in a professional and timely manner
  • Establish close working partnerships with customers, to learn their needs and anticipate changes
  • Collaboratively and seamlessly work with Libbey’s customer relations team, and other internal departments
  • Ensure all work is being completed in accordance to standard work instructions and  compliance guidelines
  • Manage inventory control and ensure proper storage and space utilization
  • Manage operational metrics for distribution center
  • Share innovative recommendations for supply chain management, cost control, quality and productivity
  • Active participant and facilitate Libbey’s LEAN initiatives
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate associates, with an emphasis on associate development
  • Maintain and promote good industrial and associate relations on-site, and ensure that potential problems are resolved at an early stage
  • Promote and encourage a culture of associate safety, cost control and delivering excellent customer service
  • Effectively manage building, grounds and equipment maintenance
  • Identify, lead and support continuous improvement projects
  • Responsible for managing operational budget

Requirements & qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’   people  management experience in a warehouse or distribution center, preferably in a unionized facility
  • Experience with warehouse layout, inventory management, logistics (including third-party) and warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Proven leadership skills and success
  • Fosters a fair and collaborative work environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • LEAN certification strongly preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus
