The Electrical Engineer is responsible for servicing, protecting and improving the plant operations and facility by focusing on value-added activities, quality of workmanship and customer satisfaction. This role acts as a direct liaison between Engineering Services, Production and Corporate Engineering, and will work with them in developing new systems and installations as well as assisting in the modification of existing electrical drives and controls so maximum efficiency. The Electrical Engineer will also be responsible for training plant electricians in electronic drive systems as well as trouble shooting electrical and electronic control systems.


  • Follow all Libbey safety procedures and policies and support company policies, procedures, goals, & objectives
  • Design/develop and implement process controls for automated and semi-automated equipment used in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Analyze processes and help identify ways of enhancing quality, cost, and throughput of those processes
  • Design/develop and implement control systems and electrical systems along with HMI interfaces
  • Provide trouble-shooting and process improvement assistance to production and maintenance personnel
  • Work closely with production and maintenance departments to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees
  • Develop understanding of plant power systems to provide assistance with plant needs
  • Develop understanding of plant supply systems to allow for more plant development of controls and processes
  • Arc Flash program support
  • Assist with implementing and improving PM\TPM and routine maintenance on electrical systems and components
  • Work with various CI Teams on continuous improvement projects and other Lean Activities
  • Assist in Root Cause Analysis problem solving as well as meeting the Engineering Services 5S initiatives
  • Work with outside vendors/groups as needed to support projects and operations
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information, data, and trends


  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited University/College with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • 2 years’ experience programming Allen Bradley PLC, PAC, Control Logix, drives, and Servo systems. Siemens experience a plus
  • Proven experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) software. Experience working with RSView and WonderWare a plus
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code and construction standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and overall computer skills
  • Strong analytical ability to analyze and solve problems based on data/fact driven problem solving approach, including root cause analysis
  • Has a demonstrated desire for personal learning and development


  • Work areas with variance from extreme heat to extreme cold
  • Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers to operate office tools
  • Frequent reaching above shoulders, stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds
  • Must be willing to share on-call duties and work as needed when on call
  • Must be ‘hands-on’ and physically able to work in all areas of the manufacturing facility
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills, able to perceive needs and work towards solutions in a collaborative manner consistently utilizing Libbey Values
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are required to effectively communicate throughout the organization
  • Must wear proper PPE for varying conditions
