The HR Generalist is responsible for delivering exceptional HR customer support, in alignment with business strategy and plant initiatives for Libbey’s Shreveport, LA manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

We Lead

  • Oversight of programs to attract, evaluate, on-board, train and develop employees for all levels of the organization locally
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with policies and mitigate risk by consulting with the legal department as required
  • Provide consultation and guidance to salary groups on company policies and procedures
  • Support the labor relations strategy / initiatives, manage the grievance process and support contract negotiations
    • Keep HR Manager informed of grievance statuses and assist in preparing Fourth Step Grievance prep packet for Plant and HR Manager
  • Investigate and answer all second step grievances at the facility
  • In tandem with the HR Manager, investigate alleged claims that may violate corporate policy, law and / or ethics policy
  • Maintain documentation, notes, and paperwork associated with grievances and investigations

  • Work in coordination with the broader HR team to identify and implement effective training and development solutions
  • Coach salary group to drive the behaviors expected to support plant strategies
  • Support and deliver HR communications timely
  • Provide routine reporting on key HR metrics
  • Partner with departments to proactively prevent and manage employee relations issues, including fair and consistent application of policies and disciplinary action
  • Recommend new policies and practices to support continuous improvement and cost reduction

We Nurture

  • Monitor effectiveness of employee development programs and provide recommendations
  • Participate and oversee annual United Way Campaign drives and associated committees
  • Supports safety initiatives
  • Support other employee programs as needed
  • Provide plant support in customer service

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of HR experience. Some manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience in a union environment helpful
  • Bachelor's degree (Business Administration / Human Resources)
  • Understanding and knowledge of human resource practices in recruitment, employee / labor relations, employee development, performance management, policy administration, benefits administration and training
  • Proficient written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively work with others
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment regulations and record keeping requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must have a customer service focus
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to multi-task, remain highly organized and thrive in a deadline-driven environment
  • Confidence in communication - verbally, written, large groups and one on one
