Machine Repair Supervisor

Job Purpose: To support the Machine Repair team by providing Supervision in alignment with Forming Value Streams which includes Job Change execution, Shop Work Cell productivity, and General Maintenance.



  • Support of assigned Value Streams and help meeting critical metrics
  • Attends daily Value Stream exchange meetings and gathers available downtime information. Fact finds downtime issues and reports them to the M/R Manager in the morning M/R downtime meeting
  • Ensures all Job Change equipment is staged and ready and crew is available
  • Supervises Machine Repair Team Leaders, changeover crews, shift repairman, and shop mechanics
  • Works with shop assigned crews to establish daily, weekly, and monthly inspections to improve availability and reduce downtime
  • Tracks job change effectiveness evaluating both T1 and T2 times and helps to develop corrective actions for improvement
  • Responsible for all repairs and checks Repair sheet daily. Works with Value Stream on repair priorities and scheduling of those repairs
  • Responsible for machine lubrication systems and execution of machine lubrication program
  • Responsible for assigned VS rebuilds and PM’s and the execution of
  • Responsible for assisting with meeting the departmental KPI’s and deliverables
  • Responsible for supporting the facility on an ‘on-call’ basis via rotation schedule
  • Contributes in leading the Continuous Improvement efforts, including LEAN and 5S, in Machine Repair and teams with Maintenance, Facility Support areas, and Corporate Engineering in support of CI
  • Assists with implementing and improving PM\TPM and routine maintenance systems to ensure machine up-time
  • Assists with designing and implementing shop work cells to ensure quality and production expectations are met through the efforts of the Machine Repair team. Defines and tracks cell metrics and works with the CI Team to improve cell performance
  • Assists in Root Cause Analysis problem solving
  • Helps to develop and implement departmental training initiatives
  • Supports and help leads the Plant BBS/Safety Initiatives
  • Must be ‘hands-on’ and capable of solving problems both on the floor and in equipment design


Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of Supervisory and Leadership skills
  • Familiarity with Libbey machinery, processes, and maintenance procedures
  • Broad knowledge of machinery, repair process, fabrication, and general maintenance
  • Leading/Promoting Continuous Improvement
  • Excellent communication skills and follow-up
  • Has a demonstrated desire for personal learning and development
  • Has a desire for coaching and training others   


Desired Qualifications:

  • LEAN training and experience in implementing LEAN concepts
  • Planning and scheduling experience
  • Safety experience and focus
