Process Engineer

The Process Engineer works with Production and Value Stream Managers on a day-to day basis and reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager for strategic direction and technical support.  The intent behind this position is to provide the Value Streams technical and engineering support in the execution of daily management and management operating systems driving organizational and operational excellence within the value stream and support areas.  This role requires the application of Leadership and Continuous Improvement behaviors and skills such as Change Leadership, A3-Project Management, Lean, DMAIC and process control.


The individual will be required to develop a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and become fully competent in process analysis and design aspects of the Engineering role.  Must be a hands-on individual, willing to work in all areas of the manufacturing plant and capable of solving problems both on the floor and in design.




Responsible for leading continuous improvement using proven continuous improvement tools and principles in order to deliver on value stream, facility and company goals.  (PQDC – People-Quality-Delivery-Cost)

  • Develop and execute A3s, item or attribute specific related, to drive reduction in heldware and COPQ1 losses within the value stream
  • Develop and improvement quality measuring systems throughout all phases of the manufacturing and support processes to drive and sustain process stability.  
  • Development and ownership of quality control plan for the value stream used for auditing and driving adherence to standards through-out the value stream
  • Work closely with value stream manager and production planning to insure accuracy of standards used to insure schedule adherence
  • Work directly with value stream manager to develop and execute strategies for reducing overall value stream unit cost (maximizing OEE (through-put) and minimizing cost to produce)
  • OEE Availability:   Participates, drives and supports A3s related to all factors of Availability, Deduct SMOH, Other Downtime and Job Change Downtime (T1).  
  • OEE Performance:  Leads CI for increasing and optimization of item production speeds
  • OEE Quality/Job Efficiency %:  Leads and facilitates item performance improvements and continuous improvement – reduction of top drivers of job efficiency losses for value stream.
  • Cost to Produce: Work closely with all value stream team members to identify and reduce drivers of manufacturing expense, i.e. labor, energy, materials.




  • Participation and development of daily management systems for value stream
  • Development and oversight of experimentation throughout the value stream.   Conduct DOEs.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals and creation of LPARs
  • Lead/support strategic Capital / Expense continuous improvement projects
  • Develop and drive standardized work in all work cells
  • Work closely with Global Engineering disciplines in all phases of CI
  • Active role in execution and CI of NPD process
  • Contributes to the development and execution of PM policy, Planned PM activities, and adherence to PM Procedures to drive process stability and OEE-Availability
  • Participates-facilitates Rapid Improvement Events and provides Technical Assistance for LEAN activities within the value stream.
  • Facilitates necessary meetings and represents the Value Stream Manager when needed.



  • Leadership – Change leadership skills:   Knowledge and application of proven change leadership principles (ADKAR, Change Continuum, Six Sigma tools)
  • Demonstrated success in establishing collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrated use of structured problem-solving skills.  Six Sigma, Lean experience preferred.
  • Engineering design and drafting skills including CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills: Excel, Word, Power Point, SharePoint, Power BI
  • Experience with using Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and various Statistical Data Analysis tools.
  • Experience working with engineering and operations on cross-functional projects, facilitating process improvements, ability to streamline/develop and roll-out new processes



  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Manufacturing Engineering is required
  • Strong verbal presentation and clear concise written communication skills appropriate to the audience
  • Ability to work off shifts as required
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization

  • Experience with LEAN and Six-Sigma are desired.  Manufacturing, Process and Machining knowledge / experience is a plus
