Warehouse and Distribution Supervisor

The Warehouse & Distribution Supervisor is responsible for establishing daily production goals for their team within the distribution center (650k square foot facility, 70+ employees) and will monitor standards to improve performance.  This position directly supervises operating personnel who work in the areas at the distribution center or in-plant warehouse, palletizer, and the skilled trades working shift.

  • Perform research analysis; assist in design and development of distribution processes which include quality, safety, cost reduction, and operations to facilitate continuous process improvement
  • Analyze and understand all aspects of the warehouse distribution including operational knowledge, process / product / information flow, internal / external customer requirements, and distribution center / warehouse productivity and quality standards
  • Establishes daily production goals and monitors intraday performance to achieve these goals
  • Participates in root cause analysis to identify problems and recommend changes
  • Monitors production standards and develops programs to improve operational throughput
  • Leverage LEAN techniques to eliminate waste and increase productivity
  • Observes Team Members activities and work methods, recommends areas of opportunity
  • Coaches team members towards meeting goals
  • Assists in training team members on distribution processes
  • Participates in root cause analysis and recommends changes & improvement
  • Assists the DC Manager in problem resolution relating to production, standard operating procedures, safety, and quality
  • Build effective working relationships with direct distribution center / warehouse support staff and hourly workforce
  • Evaluates performance of Team Members and communicates feedback regarding job performance and expectations in a timely manner
  • Participates on distribution project teams acting as a co-facilitator or facilitator
  • Knowledge of the safety and legal documentation processes for handling related warehouse activities (MSDS, Equipment checklist, DOT, BOL)
  • Working understanding of Warehouse Management System
  • Should have excellent leadership and administration skills and abilities
  • Strong motivational, effectual team building, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time and resolve crises
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements & qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 3-years demonstrated team leader experience within distribution, logistics, or transportation
  • Ability to multi-task in a rapidly changing, deadline driven work environment, with minimal mistakes
  • Supervise the functions and working of the warehouse workers
  • Delegate and assign tasks and targets and evaluate the work of the staff
  • Adhere to the compliance of all legal and safety procedures
  • Supervise proper shift allocations and ensure efficiency of all warehouse staff
  • Organize and conduct necessary training activities for the staff and workers
  • Ensure the proper functioning and safe operations of all warehouse tools and equipment
  • Work effectively with other supervisors within functional team and supports new team members
  • Drive specific initiatives that have proven business results.
  • Proactively think beyond the explicit assignment to ask second-order questions and identify analytic needs
  • Accurately, quickly, and clearly answer questions related to your area of focus
  • Be viewed as a credible company expert on your area of focus
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability and willingness to work alternate shifts as required and extended hours
  • May be required to lift 50+ pounds
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
