Communications Intern

External Affairs and Communications co-op opportunities typically exist in the following areas, projects may include:

  • External communications (General writing) – Edit and develop content (and simple design) for websites or social media
  • Internal communications - Provide strong writing for associate communications, including content (and simple design) for global or regional projects and initiatives, company intranet, videos, announcements or events



  • Writing skills – journalism, communication, English or public relations classes focused on writing and editing
  • Social media skills - knows how to use and execute current social media outlets (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Online communications capabilities, including writing for intranet; support development of video and visual features and content
  • Communication skills – excellent written and oral communication skills, good relationship builder, and can tailor a message based on the audience
  • Energetic, self-starter, with the ability to work collaboratively with associates at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge in Microsoft suite of software (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook primarily)


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program studying Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related major
  • Sophomore (by credit hour) or above
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments to meet objectives
  • Knowledge and understanding of online communications, digital media, including video production, Photoshop and other digital communications.
  • Writing for media, including understanding of AP style
  • Understanding of intranet and web communications
  • Availability to work 15-20 hours Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm EST
