Reports To:    Plant Manager, Toledo plant

Libbey is hiring for a Human Resources Manager based at our Toledo manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for providing HR leadership to all manufacturing and related supply chain functions.  These functions include production, quality assurance, plant engineering, molding & machine repair, service/distribution, environmental health & safety and accounting.  This client group that the Human Resources Manager will support is approximately 100 salaried and 750 hourly, union associates.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Labor and Union Relations
    • Partner with Toledo plant and US & Canada region leaders to implement the long term labor relations strategy
    • Establish and maintain productive and cooperative relationships with each of the 4 Toledo labor unions
    • Define and implement plant-wide communications strategies
    • Partner with plant leadership and outside labor partners to establish, plan for and participate in union collective bargaining contract negotiations
    • Proactively prevent and actively resolve all disputes, grievances and arbitrations in a manner that supports Libbey’s long-term labor strategy, existing policies and defined disciplinary processes
    • Provide consultation and guidance for managers and associates on Libbey’s policies and processes

 

  • Talent Acquisition
    • Continuously evaluate and seek to improve processes for efficient and cost-effective hourly hiring, through partnership with internal and/or external partners
    • Partner with corporate human resource team to identify talent needs and develop recruiting and staffing plans to support defined client functions
    • Lead and coordinate new associate orientation (on-boarding) processes
    • Manage affirmative action compliance and reporting

 

  • Talent and Organization Capability Development
    • Manage the annual talent review and succession planning processes for each functional client group
    • Lead and champion the individual development planning process
    • Ensure that all salaried associates at the Toledo plant have defined annual goals and metrics and champion the performance management process
    • Assess training & development needs for client groups and identify comprehensive and low cost development solutions
    • Develop and deliver training programs; source and liaise with external  training providers to deliver optimal results 
    • Create/maintain current jb descriptions for all roles
    • Ensure organizational charts are accurately maintained
    • Active involvement in managing the annual merit and incentive processes
    • Recommend, develop and implement new policies to support continuous improvement
    • Conduct associate exit interviews and communicate/apply learnings
       
  • Culture Transformation
    • Lead the rollout and supporting initiatives around Libbey’s “Creating Momentum” strategy
    • Coach associates on, and drive the behaviors expected, to support our core values – continuous improvement, customer focus, development, performance, respect and teamwork
    • Lead the annual salaried engagement survey process and related action plan development/tracking
    • Create and manage HR communications that are appropriate for a diverse manufacturing workforce

 

    • Partner with leadership to proactively prevent and actively manage associate relations issues, including fair and consistent application of policies and disciplinary action
    • Provide consultation and guidance for managers and associates on Libbey’s policies and processes
    • Ensure prper management and communication of safety and workers compensation related matters
       
  • HR Cost Management, Processes and Metrics
    • Provide leadership, coaching and development to plant HR team to ensure a high level of performance
    • Manage/maintain assciate records for all Toledo plant associates
    • Provide routine reporting on key HR metrics
    • Ensure ongoing compliance with all legal and procedural requirements; conduct routine compliance audits and implement corrective actions
    • Practively identify and implement actions to reduce HR costs and improve efficiency
    • Respond to requests for information by various entities (e.g., EEOC, OCR)
    • Support HR department effectiveness by establishing standardized, documented, sustainable processes for routine transactions and leveraging manager/associate self-service opportunities
    • Work collaboratively across the region with HR colleagues to establish and maintain standardized HR processes to optimize HR effectiveness
    • Ensure seamless cllaboration with shared services in areas such as payroll and benefits

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Business Administration/Human Resources/Labor Relations preferred)
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of human resources experience
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Demonstrated successful experience in labor relations, including labor contract strategy and negotiation
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of human resources practices in recruitment, organizational development, policy administration, benefits, training and associate relations
  • Proven organizational leadership capabilities with an expertise in implementing and managing change
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal employment regulations and record keeping requirements
    • Must pssess ability to effectively interpret and advise on EEO/AA regulations, including the development of adverse impact analysis
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with other HR software strongly desired
