Master Tradesman

Under the general direction of a Maintenance Supervisor, the Master Tradesman performs a variety of skilled trade’s work within the areas of Automotive Repair, Carpentry, Heating and Air Conditioning, Pipefitting, Plumbing, Metal Fabrication, Welding, Painting, Mechanical Repair, Installation & Repair, and Electronic, Service, Installation, & Repair. Monitors and operates equipment associated with the powerhouse and plant systems.



  • Works from specifications, drawings, and / or verbal instruction to install, fabricate, repair, troubleshoot, etc. various pieces of plant services, structures, equipment and related components.
  • Performs a wide variety of rough and finished carpentry work. Uses hand and power tools to cut, plane, shape, fit, and assemble.
  • Performs piping fitting and plumbing work. Installs and services equipment associated with the control and monitoring of fluids, vacuum and gases contained within plant pipe systems. Services and repairs fire protection systems in the plant and outside warehouse.
  • Performs sheet metal layout, fabrication, erection, repair, and removal work throughout the plant. Does hot and cold bending, cutting, welding and forming of metals. Works with plates and structural shapes in fabricating or repairing a wide variety of plant equipment. Repairs or installs sheet metal items on or around building.
  • Performs general renovation type work on plant facilities. Performs painting work (brush, roller, and spray) of all types throughout the plant.
  • Repairs and maintains miscellaneous mechanical equipment. Rigs and moves heavy materials and equipment used in and about the plant.
  • Works in conjunction with vendor equipment specialists, contractors, and other plant local workers in maintaining, installation, and troubleshooting of plant equipment and systems.



  • Maintains communication with plant supervision and personnel when performing work in the plant. Determines consequences of Maintenance Repair Operations (e.g. downtime) for any department effected and notifies his/her supervisor and the supervisor for the affected areas.



  • High School Diploma/GED a must
  • Experience working with engineering and operations on cross-functional projects, facilitating process improvements, ability to streamline/develop and roll-out new processes or product launches preferred
  • Experience in various aspects of quality (corporate, laboratory, operations, supplier, product development and launch, customer satisfaction)
  • Ability to work off shifts as required
  • Observes safety and good housekeeping requirements, performs any other duties assigned
  • Consistently exhibit Libbey values in all interactions with Libbey associates
  • Must be able to pass a respirator test
