Libbey is hiring a Solutions Architect to successfully lead the delivery of business solutions, including architecture planning, design and development, as well as ongoing support and maintenance of existing solutions.  This is a leadership position and will have responsibility for a small team of direct reports.

In this role, you will have an opportunity to touch multiple facets of our business: finance, supply chain, sales, marketing and manufacturing.  You will be viewed as a critical design advisor to solutions with integrated SaaS platforms, custom solutions and e-commerce technologies.

The successful candidate will build close partnerships with teams on the front-end of the solution lifecycle to understand business needs and constraints, applying extensive technical breadth to derive an end-to-end solution.  You and your team will liaison with all other functional areas of IT, contributing toward innovative system designs to successfully support the IT and enterprise strategy.

  • Design and architect business solutions.  Create functional system architect diagrams as it relates to enterprise applications.  Conduct functional design reviews and formal assessment of solutions created from internal and/or external resources.
  • Accountable for leading the day-to-day design, development and delivery of business solutions using a mixture of internal and external resources
  • Effectively communicate with a broad audience, including IT leadership, business relationship managers, business leaders, analysts and developers
  • Participate and contribute to technology governance process meetings (Critical Design Review, New Technology Review) and support
  • Participate in business and technology planning sessions to anticipate future business capability needs and technology changes
  • Provide leadership, support and guidance to development teams during the analysis, development and testing processes; mentor where necessary
  • Assist in hands on design, development, configuration and support as directed
  • Responsible for tracking, reporting and driving resolution of the following, related to issues and problems: status, escalation, risk mitigation and follow-through until resolution
  • Test and implement changes, updating appropriate documents and systems, and adhere to specific compliance and security measures (SDLC, Change Control & other compliance, such as SOX)
  •  Manage vendors and vendor relationships; review vendor product, quality and SLAs
  • Exercise effective communication levels and foster team building
  • Work with international internal customer base; this requires an ability to work with various global time zones
  • Maintains key performance metrics for the team and ensures SLAs are met on incidents.  Resolve urgent support issues during on-call rotation.
  • Identify, propose and garner support for strategy-advancing new technology tools, working closely with the IT management team to establish effective business cases, sponsorships and budgets, as necessary
  • Provide improvement ideas regarding all IT activities which are instrumental to success – e.g. training, resource planning, risk assessments, data migration, compliance with control/regulatory requirements, security, contract & change management, success metrics, etc. 
  • Provide team guidance and development. This requires active engagement with and supervision of both internal (local and remote) and external (contracted) resources.  Effective planning, prioritization, delegation, and monitoring of team-based activities are crucial to team success.  

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree desired, Bachelor’s degree required
  • MCSD Web Applications certification, desired
  • 5+ years’ experience in application development, analyst, and/or other technical design experience, with a focus on enterprise level business applications
  • Preferred experience with the following technologies:
    • C# or X++
    • HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript
    • VSTS / Team Foundation Server
    • Operating systems (Windows/SLES/RHEL)
    • Database technologies (Oracle/SQL Server/MySQL)
  • Experience supporting applications for medium to large sized business; manufacturing and international footprint preferred
  • Experience with mature development practices and documentation including process maps, functional designs, architecture overview diagrams and data flow diagrams
  • 3+ years’ experience in providing technical direction to a team of developers
  • Project management and implementation experience
  • 2+ years’ experience with integration concepts (e.g. Scribe, Dell Boomi)
  • 2+ years’ experience in architecting and designing applications to improve or extend business capabilities
    • Experience in presenting concepts to stakeholders, managers, and technical teams preferred
    • Experience in presenting functional or architectural concepts to executives preferred

General understanding of enterprise ERP systems and business processes
